About Myself

Dare to dream

I consider myself extremely lucky as my work is my hobby, along with environmental protection, gastronomy, spa, wellness, psychology, travel, culture and art.

I spent the better part of the last 16 years studying and practicing Nuad Boran (known as Thai massage). I spent 7 years in Thailand, where the local masters introduced me to the fundamentals of Thai massage. In 1999, I acquired all the certificates and diplomas available at the time at the Wat Pho school in Bangkok. Every year since then I seek out new masters to further my knowledge primarily in Asia or where ever I may be in the world.

I will be eternally grateful to dear Mama Oen, who chose me and taught me for many years as her own daughter - even if the first period only allowed non-verbal communication. I first came in contact with Buddhism in 1990, when I became the student of a Nepalese lama, Lopon Tsechu Rinpoche. However, my approach and understanding of life truly developed during my stay in Thailand, and today I'm in a position to practice the genuine philosophy of Thai massage, "Metta", i.e., loving kindness.

None of this would have happened without my helpers, masters and friends - who taught me to be patient, never to give up, supported me in spirit and contributed greatly to my development as a person.

The greatest teachers were the patients themselves with "incurable" diseases, presenting huge professional challenges.

Dr. Edit Rácz, the head of intensive-care anaesthesiology and palliative care in Péterfy Sándor Hospital is my main mentor. Without her I would have stayed at the level of providing relaxing and refreshing Thai massage. She, however, recognised the importance of Thai massage diagnostics regarding the areas of pain and bodily toxin build-up (e.g. in the sole of the foot). She presented me with newer and newer challenges, and with her supervision and the consent of the patients and/or their relatives, we achieved near miraculous results.

As doctors' consultations are held in Latin, I realized the necessity of furthering my studies in this field at home. I must also thank Dr. Erzsébet Nagy, homeopath and paediatrician, who conveyed her knowledge of healing and helped with her wisdom in cases where I became stuck. She led me to appreciate the importance of patients' moods and internal states, and the role that the psyche plays in healing and preserving health.

My students teach me patience and humility. Their perseverance and interest confirm the importance of conveying this knowledge and motivate me to go further.

During my practice my expertise was applied as complementary treatment to Western medical therapies, always with successful results. Therefore, aside from recreation I place great emphasis on rehabilitation recognised by medical doctors as the results are visible and measurable by instruments and laboratory tests. The best results were achieved with patients suffering from locomotion disorders as well as those with muscle deterioration/atrophy and acute (max. 1-month) paralysis.

In cooperation with doctors I treated thousands of patients, including people in intensive care and out-patients. Specialties: metabolism and nutrition related diseases, otolaryngology, gastroenterology, infectology, orthopediatrics, neurology, psychiatry, pulmonology, rheumatology, gynecology and obstetrics, as well as traumatology.

The opening of Chi Thai Massage and the Istenhegy Center for Alternative Movement and Massage Therapy was one of my biggest dreams. This is a place where patients on whom Western medicine had given up were healed. Extending the range of my arms and hands, several Thai massage therapists also worked under my guidance, healing those left to their own devices. From then on, in interviews I was no longer faced with the statement, "you must realize that most people associate Thai massage with sex". Finally, this ancient and wonderful healing method was being accepted for what it is on a wider social scale. Over the years I had seen a lot of stressed out business people coming through my door, and I, as a "business woman" myself, experienced the pains caused by prolonged stress. I learned and continue to learn from my experiences. Sadly, there are situations which cannot be overcome even through meditation. I had to learn other relaxation and stress-relief methods, and here I received a lot of help from Western masters. I am very grateful to the Mervo brothers for spreading the word about Thai massage and helping to dispel myths and misconceptions.
